Thanks to the efforts of thousands of grassroots activists, there has been a growing call to shut down Medicare Direct Contracting, cancel its replacement program (Medicare REACH), and reinvest in the traditional, truly public, Medicare program.

On November 30, 2021, Physicians for a National Health Program president Dr. Susan Rogers led a delegation to the doorsteps of the Dept. of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. to deliver 13,000+ petitions demanding an end to Medicare Direct Contracting.
Medicare allies join the fight
Members of Congress have been hearing from their constituents, and community groups across the U.S. have been hearing from concerned activists urging them to push back against this latest privatization threat.
- Congressional allies: Dozens of members of Congress signed a letter to Dept. of Health and Human Services Sec. Xavier Becerra urging him to end Medicare Direct Contracting
- Health justice allies: More than 250 organizations representing seniors, labor unions, consumers, and medical professionals signed on to a letter demanding an end to Medicare REACH … less than two weeks after the program was announced
